Excellence in Monitoring and Analysis

Specializing in beach restoration, water quality, benthic habitat and sand field analysis

About

Dedication to excellence

Kyle Aveni-Deforge has extensive experience working in diverse aquatic environments (seagrass, rocky intertidal, stream, coral reef, marine benthic and wetland). Through a PhD in ecology and evolutionary biology (Universiy of South Carolina, 2007), a post-doctoral fellowship in the biomechanics of nutrient uptake (Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology), a stint with Biological Engineers (North Carolina State University) and consulting work with Oceanit (Honolulu, HI), Rising Tide Engineering (Paia, HI) and now Ecological Monitoring and Analysis, Kyle has provided technical diving, sensor development and deployment, benthic habitat survey and analysis, water quality monitoring and analysis, small scale beach nourishment permitting and support, sand field monitoring and analysis, technical document review and development of compensatory mitigation accounting strategies, among other things. Kyle brings broad experience, pragmatism, open-mindedness and dedication to problems of all sorts; he enjoys a hands on approach throughout the lifecycle of a project. When he isn't collecting and analyzing data (or parenting), he enjoys road cycling, surfing poorly and planning ecological studies of his immediate environment.
